Prepare the base mortar with cement and sand in the ratio 1:5
The total mortar thickness should not be more than one. In case where tilting is to be done on RCC slabs, finished floor level would have to be marked using tube level. In this process fit is observed in some are mortar thickness is likely to be excess of one.
In those areas PCC work will have to be done to raise levels, is not more than one.
Set the level for floor ( ie, dead level or slop as specified by architect/ contractor )
Prepare slurry cement ( i.e mixture of cement and water ro form a thick paste land spread ir on levelled base mortar)
Wet the reverse of tiles with water. Complete immersion of tile in water is not required.
If the square or rectangle in shape, set the right angles of rooms and place the first tile along the right angles line and place in base mortal. Tap gently with cloth covered wooden/rubber mallet to obtain perfect levels.
Clean the surface of the tile with clean water immediately after laying with wet sponge. Ensure that the base mortar which squeezes through joints does not settle on the tile.
Also ensure that the water used for cleaning is not salty, hard or brackish.
in sites where multiple are encountered, whenever level changes occur, the tiles on the ridge will have to adequately protected with mortar.
